As an artist my work is about so much more than the final piece. It is important to me that everything I create is story-led, promotes friendliness and inclusivity, and is of high quality. I see my work as more of a collaboration. Together we can go from belly laughing over someone’s epic bikini fail to getting lost in a cherished memory. Ready to hear more about how I work…

Story-led.

Let’s begin with what really makes my artwork unique and the part I love most of all.

It is full of real people and your stories!

With a new painting underway and the background almost painted in, I put a call out to my mailing list, Instagram & Facebook asking, ‘What would you be doing in this situation?’. And my gosh you bring it!

As I paint you in, I pay particular attention to your hairstyle as quite often that is the identifying factor when you are about 2cm tall. Tattoos and facial hair are always a challenge!

Friendly & Inclusive

In an industry that can sometimes feel elitist, it feels very special to have a direct connection with you and create art which is accessible and makes you feel part of the process.

At this story stage I also seek out inspiring stories that bring an extra level of warmth to the painting. You can spot Swim Dem crew in ‘The Bathing Pond’. These guys are an inner-city, London based swim club that believe in the power of community and use swimming to empower others. Painting ‘Swim Dem’ on their caps needed the teeniest of brushes.

Quality

My collectors will know that juggling family life and insisting on very high-quality means that I don’t turn out volumes of work. But what I do create is always with the finest materials and immense amount of consideration. The use of highly pigmented acrylic paint provides beautiful clarity of colour. This quality is not lost in the printing process either as I use experts in the fine art industry who print using the best machines available and onto museum quality, fine art paper.

Initial idea
It all starts with a few questions… what makes us happy, where do we like to be, can it celebrate many stories and what the heck would look good above the sofa?

Sketches and photos taken on location are best but where business class flights and cocktails aren’t included, the internet and google earth!

Pick a bright, fresh, colour palette that’s limited to maintain a sense of space. High end design and interior mags offer great combinations to compliment the natural beauty around us.
